Stone knapping is an art that I’ve dabbled in, but it’s not something I’ve devoted a lot of time to. I tend to prefer making ground-edged tools, and wooden tools. This Kimberley spear point was made from a piece of glass back in 2013, as part of a workshop for Koori men in Melbourne. John Duggan, a close mate of mine is a master knapper, and we’ve run a couple of workshop together over the years, in Melbourne VIC, and Lightning Ridge NSW. As someone who enjoys fossicking quite a lot, I suppose I’ll make my next spear point or knife when I find the right stone.
