This work was commissioned by the City of Melbourne for the Creative Hoardings Trial. The artwork will feature on construction hoardings at various sites in the City of Melbourne. I’m very excited for when it eventually goes live, as the work pays tribute to Aboriginal Civil Rights leaders from the 1930’s and 1800’s. In Australia we know the names of American rights leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr, Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks, but we don’t know the names of our own. I’m hoping this artwork can go some small way towards changing that. When the work is up, it will feature a QR code which will allow people to visit a site featuring short biographies I’ve written on each person, further illuminating their achievements and legacy.
