Oil on canvas.
This was my third attempt at painting (ever). Sure, I’d brushed outlines and coloured them in using acrylics previously, but aside from a landscape done in oils during an afternoon workshop during high school, this was the second time in my adult life where I’d taken to a surface with a paintbrush with the intention of producing a finished painting rather than an illustration. This one, featuring my Dad and my youngest son, was produced in 2015, perhaps 2-3 months after my first painted portrait attempt (a portrait of my Grandfather). The hair was poorly done, but it was an enjoyable learning experience, which I made the most of.
